January 2026 Tax Revenue Reaches IDR 116.2 Trillion

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Finance recorded tax revenue realization until January 2026 of Rp. 116.2 trillion or equivalent to 4.9 percent of this year's state budget target.

In addition, this achievement shows a growth of 30.7 percent compared to the same period last year.

Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara said that in January 2025, tax revenue was recorded at Rp88.9 trillion, while in January 2026 it increased to Rp116.2 trillion net.

He added that this growth was mainly supported by the receipt of Value Added Tax (VAT) and Luxury Goods Sales Tax (PPnBM).

In total, the realization of VAT and PPnBM reached IDR 45.3 trillion or jumped 83.9 percent year-on-year.

Meanwhile, in gross terms, the receipt was IDR 82.6 trillion, growing 7.7 percent compared to the previous year.

"We know that value-added tax is paid as long as there is a transaction. So this is a sign that our economy is in a running transaction so that there is a payment of VAT and PPnBM," he explained at the APBN KiTA press conference, Monday, February 23.

In terms of Corporate Income Tax (PPh), net revenue was recorded at Rp5.7 trillion or increased 37.0 percent year-on-year.

Meanwhile, the revenue from Personal Income Tax and Article 21 Income Tax is still contracting where, until January 2026, the realization reached IDR 13.1 trillion or down 20.4 percent compared to the same period last year.

In addition, Final Income Tax, Income Tax Article 22, and Income Tax Article 26 also recorded a decrease with a total realization of IDR 26.0 trillion or weakened by 11.0 percent.

However, there are administrative factors that affect this figure, namely there are still deposits in the form of deposits of IDR 6.1 trillion in Personal Income Tax and Income Tax 21 that have not been transferred.

If the deposit has been booked, the growth of Personal Income Tax and 21 Personal Income Tax is estimated to reach 16.5 percent.

In addition, there are also other tax deposits worth Rp15.4 trillion which are still recorded in other tax positions and have not been transferred.

On the other hand, other tax posts recorded revenue of Rp16.1 trillion with very high growth of 685.8 percent.

Suahasil also added that the increase in net revenue was also supported by improvements in restitution management.

He added that tax refunds were recorded as decreasing by 23.0 percent in line with the implementation of the principle of prudence and better governance at the Directorate General of Taxes.

"The restitution was carried out by management by friends in the Directorate General of Taxes with the principle of prudence and governance that must be well maintained," he said.
