Sulsel Police Suspect the Death of Bripda DP in the Police Dormitory

MAKASSAR - South Sulawesi Regional Police (Polda) investigators have named a perpetrator of the abuse of Bripda DP who caused his death on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at the Police Dormitory (Aspol) in the area of the South Sulawesi Police office complex, Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan Makassar.

"Currently we have secured one suspect according to the confession made. However, we do not believe it just like that, because we are still seeing other involvement," said Sulsel Police Chief Irjen Djuhandhani Rahardjo Puro as reported by ANTARA, Monday, February 23.

The disclosure of the case of abuse against the victim after the team of the Propam Directorate, Propam Division, Directorate of General Reserse and Criminal Investigation of the South Sulawesi Police worked to prove the incident at the scene. Six people have been intensively examined.

"We are intensively investigating the five people again to see what their relationship is. However, from the statement of one of the people we believe the investigators with proof. We have appointed one suspect on behalf of P, the rank of Bripda who is a senior of the victim," said the police chief.

He emphasized that for every member who violates the law, violates the regulations, then they will be dealt with firmly and the process will be transparent and professional. In the near future, for members who are involved, he said, a code of ethics trial process will be carried out which can provide legal certainty both in terms of service and criminal accountability.

As for the development of the other five personnel, after one person was named a suspect, said the police chief, it was still in the process of examination. Because, evidence is still needed, both materially and other evidence.

"From the statement of one of the suspects on behalf of P, it is connected to the results of the examination from Biddokes, there is a correspondence, both by hitting in the head and other parts of the body. This is synchronous. So, we can believe that brother P is the culprit and we will carry out further processes," he said.

So far, investigators are still working by examining five personnel, there are friends of the same rank and seniors. However, their status is still as a witness and their involvement is being investigated. Because, it is seen that there is an attempt to obscure the investigation as the victim said he hit his head, but the fact is that it is refuted.

"We don't care about the information. We will still enforce the existing rules. Meanwhile, the examination, then their involvement is still being investigated. Of course, the actions taken must be in accordance with the evidence or facts. If people are innocent, we should not punish them," he said.

However, from various statements obtained by the investigation team, such as reports and so on, currently they are still conducting various in-depth investigations, whether there is involvement of other personnel including his seniors in the case.
