Nintendo Launches Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen on Switch on February 27

JAKARTA - Nintendo announced that Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version will be launched for the Nintendo Switch console for the first time in over 20 years.

Both games can also be played on the Nintendo Switch 2, and will be available starting February 27, coinciding with the celebration of Pokémon Day.

This release brings back the classic feel of the Game Boy Advance era, allowing players to catch wild Pokémon and explore the Kanto region as it was two decades ago.

The game is digitally released and available separately in English, French, and Spanish via the My Nintendo Store and Nintendo eShop.

As a remake of the 2004 first-generation games, Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green (which first launched in Japan in 1996), FireRed and LeafGreen feature 151 original Pokémon that players can encounter throughout the game.

Players can also meet iconic characters such as Brock, Misty, Professor Oak, and Giovanni, complete with classic soundtracks and the turn-based combat system typical of the era.

In addition, players can now connect with friends through the local co-op feature without requiring a Game Link Cable like in 2004.

Nintendo said the return of the two titles was part of the celebration of Pokémon's 30th anniversary, as well as giving old fans a chance to reminisce and new players to experience the beginning of the legendary series' journey.

Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version will be available on Nintendo Switch starting February 27 for a suggested retail price of $19.99 or Rp335 thousand.
