Google Integrates AI Mode to Chrome Address Bar Desktop Version
Google is bringing new Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities to Chrome. The company is now integrating AI Mode into the address bar or omnibox of the desktop version of Chrome.
With this integration, users can interact with AI without having to switch pages or open a new tab. This update is visible in the new 'plus' menu placed on the left side of the address bar.
If tapped, the menu provides an option to upload an image or attach a file. Users can also access several Gemini features such as in-depth search and create images with Nano Banana support.
There is also a Gemini model option to handle complex and heavy tasks in the browser. The AI model is available in two options, namely Auto and Pro.
Google also added a new feature, namely the option to share the content of the page that is being opened in a New Tab. Users can make a request to the AI to summarize the contents of a website or ask questions related to the article being read.
If the feature is enabled, the address bar will turn into a wider command box with a more interactive look. The display is enhanced with a unique four-color light effect that is identical to Gemini.
The integration of the AI Mode in the Chrome address bar is starting to be seen on the Chrome desktop with version 145. Users can disable this shortcut at any time by right-clicking on the address bar.
