Samsung Confirms the Presence of Perplexity on the Galaxy S26, Can Be Called with the Keyword 'Hey Plex'
JAKARTA - Gemini won't be the only Artificial Intelligence (AI) assistant in the Samsung Galaxy S26 Series. Perplexity will also be available by default on the device with an activation keyword.
Unlike Gemini, which can only rely on the side button or home button to be activated, users can call Perplexity. They just need to say 'Hey Plex' and the keyword will make Perplexity active.
With this keyword, users can access Perplexity through voice commands. The presence of Perplexity will complement the AI ecosystem at Samsung, competing with existing voice assistants such as Gemini, Google Assistant, and Google.
Samsung said that Perplexity's presence is in line with users' need for increasingly diverse digital assistants. Based on internal data, almost eight out of ten users now rely on more than two types of AI agents every day.

"This system-level approach offers a richer and more flexible AI experience for Galaxy users across devices," Samsung said in its latest statement, quoted on Monday, February 23.
Users can not only activate Perplexity through voice, but also by long pressing the side button of the device. Perplexity integration will also be visible in built-in applications such as Samsung Notes, Gallery, and Calendar.
For now, it is not known whether the 'Hey, Plex' activation is only for the latest flagship series. However, it is rumored that this AI assistant will be installed by default on all Galaxy S26 devices.
