PBSI's steps in strengthening the men's doubles coaching
JAKARTA - PBSI has made several changes to maintain consistency in performance and improve the dynamics of the men's doubles badminton athletes. This step is expected to refresh the team that will compete in the international arena.
Hopefully, this adjustment can create a more fresh, adaptive, and responsive training and mentoring atmosphere for the highest level of competition, in line with the tight competition in the BWF tournament calendar.
Quoting an ANTARA report on Sunday, February 22, Chafidz Yusuf was appointed as the main assistant coach for men's doubles to accompany Antonius Budi Ariantho. Meanwhile, Thomas Indratjaja was trusted to be the assistant coach for men's doubles pratama who will work with Andrei Adistia.
PBSI emphasized that this adjustment is part of a refreshing strategy without changing the direction of the coaching program that has been running so far, including the target of improving performance at the Super Series level to the doubles and multi-event championships.
Before the rotation was carried out, Chafidz held the position as the coach of the men's doubles Pelatnas pratama and is known to have experience in coaching young athletes to the elite level.
Thomas previously served as the main men's doubles assistant coach and has long been involved in the coaching system of the sector at Pelatnas Cipayung.
Andrei is a men's doubles coach who handles the pratama group. The former national player has experience as an international athlete before switching to the coaching world and is now focusing on developing young pairs as part of regeneration.
This structural refreshment is carried out in the midst of the need to maintain the depth of the Indonesian men's doubles squad, which is often one of the mainstay sectors in various international events.
With the combination of experience at the elite level and youth coaching, PBSI hopes that the regeneration process will run more optimally and be able to maintain Indonesia's competitiveness in the world arena.
