One year of Pramono-Rano, Soroti DPRD 3 Big PR: Flood, Traffic, and Poverty Not Yet Complete

JAKARTA - One year of leadership for the Governor and Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung-Rano Karno, is considered not to be free from the three classic problems of the Capital City. The DKI Jakarta DPRD emphasized that these three issues must be the focus of the remaining five-year term.

Deputy Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Wibi Andrino, said that the legislature had listened directly to the presentation of the performance achievements of the DKI Provincial Government under the leadership of Pramono-Rano. He appreciated the completion of quick wins programs which were the initial targets of the government.

"We heard directly from the Governor that 97 percent of the quick wins program has been completed and three percent are still in the process. This is certainly an achievement that should be appreciated," Wibi told reporters, Sunday, February 22.

Even so, he reminded that there were still fundamental works that could not be delayed. The DPRD, he said, would continue to synergize with the executive to accelerate the handling of floods, congestion, and poverty.

Regarding flooding, Wibi emphasized the importance of strengthening control measures, including through the Ciliwung River normalization program.

"We in the DPRD will continue to support the work of the executive so that Jakarta is increasingly free from flood problems," he said.

For congestion, he assessed that the development of public transportation was the key. The DPRD supports the strengthening of Transjakarta services and the integration of Transjabodetabek to reach the buffer area.

"We support the expansion of services to the buffer area to be expanded further, so that congestion can be significantly reduced," he said.

Meanwhile, in an effort to reduce poverty, Wibi emphasized that the sustainability of the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) program remains a concern.

He added, the DPRD will also encourage the strengthening of the merit system and the solidity between regional device organizations (OPD) so that the implementation of programs is more effective. The functions of supervision and absorption of aspirations during the recess, he said, will continue to be optimized.

"We will continue to work with the executive, both through the supervisory function and absorbing aspirations during the recess. The issue must be resolved on the ground, and we hear directly from the public," explained Wibi.

A similar highlight came from the Chairman of the D Commission of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Yuke Yurike. He appreciated the achievements of Pramono-Rano's one-year leadership, but reminded that poverty gaps were still a major challenge.

"In the future, there are still many PR, especially regarding the poverty gap which is still quite high. This is a common challenge, especially in the midst of fiscal constraints," he said.

Yuke ensured that the DPRD would monitor that the allocation of the budget would really be focused on the interests of the community, especially in handling floods, congestion, and poverty.

"We will ensure that the budget is used as effectively as possible to meet the needs of Jakarta residents," he concluded.
