Lexus recalls LX500d and LX600 in Australia, transmission problems

JAKARTA - Lexus has recalled the LX500d and LX600 models in Australia, with a potential problem of damage to the transmission and electronic solenoid.

Citing the Drive website, Sunday, February 22, the affected vehicles were produced in 2025, and are estimated to be a mix of 2025 and 2026 model year vehicles.

"The affected Lexus LX vehicles are equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission that uses a linear solenoid to control gear shifting," reads a notice from Lexus Australia.

The report states that if the solenoid fails under certain conditions, the Transmission ECT ECU may not be able to communicate the error to the engine ECU, causing the transmission to spin too fast in a certain gear.

This can damage the transmission, causing a loss of driving power when driving at high speeds, and in some cases can cause fluid leaks that come into contact with hot exhaust components.

"This condition can increase the risk of collision or fire, which can also increase the risk of injury or death for vehicle passengers," the report added.

Lexus Australia said the transmission damage showed no warning and customers should take their cars to a dealer as soon as possible to fix the damage.

In response to the above, Lexus will reprogram the Transmission ECT-ECU software, at no cost to owners, for all affected vehicles.

"The reprogramming process will take about 30 minutes. Depending on the dealer's work schedule, the owner may need to provide the vehicle for a longer period of time," wrote the Lexus report.
