Median Survey Emphasizes Majority of Jokowi Voters are Low Educated in Today's History, February 22, 2018

JAKARTA - Today, 8 years ago, February 22, 2018, the National Survey Media Survey (Median) revealed the results of a survey related to the figure who fought in the 2019 Presidential Election. They revealed that voters Joko Widodo (Jokowi) are mostly low educated.

Previously, the 2019 presidential election political contest brought Jokowi and Prabowo Subianto together again. Both have a loyal mass base. Both camps even claim their champions will win. Survey institutions also play a role.

The 2019 presidential election again brought Jokowi and Prabowo together. Jokowi with the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) wants to win again. Prabowo with the Gerindra Party also considers winning to be a dead price.

Prabowo himself obviously does not want to lose again like in the 2014 presidential election. Prabowo is more confident because he considers Jokowi's achievements as an ordinary Indonesian leader. Many of his political promises have missed.

Jokowi's policies often receive criticism. Jokowi's commitment to eradicating corruption is also questioned. However, criticism of Jokowi does not make the former Mayor of Surakarta's popularity decrease.

Several survey institutions have revealed the results of opinion polls related to the figure who will win the 2019 presidential election since 2017. On average, the victory is in favor of Jokowi. This narrative makes Prabowo's camp not believe the survey results.

They are instead focusing on finding a suitable representative to accompany Prabowo. A variety of names have decorated. However, the full decision still belongs to Prabowo himself. This condition is considered to have a greater impact than having to think about the results of the survey.

Jokowi's camp also did not want to lose. They tried to prepare a strategy so that they could win and lead Indonesia again.

"If you ask me personally, Gatot Nurmantyo (TNI Commander) is indeed the most suitable person to accompany Mr. Prabowo. However (the decision), because the vice president is the one who determines it, yes Mr. Prabowo himself who gets the aspirations from below," said Gerindra's Deputy Secretary General Arief Poyuono as quoted by the detik.com page, July 25, 2017.

Survey institutions that reveal the potential winners of the presidential election are indeed many. However, only a few dissect the quality of voters from the two presidential candidates. Survey Institute, Median tried to be different on February 22, 2018.

Median revealed the results of its latest survey regarding the quality of Jokowi and Prabowo voters in the 2019 presidential election. The results of Median put the majority of Jokowi voters with low education. Meanwhile, his opponent, Prabowo, was chosen by the majority of the educated community.

The survey conducted by Median with 1,000 respondents on 1-9 February 2018 with a random sampling method details the two voters. Jokowi voters who did not finish elementary school reached 40.9 percent, elementary school graduates 39 percent, junior high school graduates 37.4 percent, high school/vocational school graduates 27 percent, S1 graduates 13.7 percent, and S2/S3 graduates 10 percent.

Unlike Prabowo, who was chosen by voters who did not finish elementary school 13.7 percent, finished elementary school 21 percent, finished junior high school 22.8 percent, finished high school/vocational school 25.1 percent, finished S1 34 percent, and finished S2/S3 40 percent. Median reveals that the higher education community is literate and does not like figures who are only image-makers.

"Imaging is no longer effective for educated people. If what is complained about is the electricity tariff, then the concrete electricity must go down, then the voice will go up. If what is complained about is the daily economy, then it must first succeed. It can't be covered by giving away bicycles, for example," said Median Executive Director Rico Marbun as quoted by the kompas.com page, February 22, 2018.
