Post-Sumatra Disaster, Minister of Home Affairs: The Government Does Not Stand Still, I Am the First Day of Fasting in Aceh Tamiang
JAKARTA - The Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) and Chairman of the Task Force (Kasatgas) for the Acceleration of Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) after the Sumatra Disaster, Tito Karnavian, emphasized that President Prabowo Subianto continues to deploy his power to accelerate post-disaster recovery in Sumatra.
"Well then, the government, under [the order] of President Prabowo, deployed all its forces to improve. I know this is all electricity first. The internet is dead," Tito said in his statement in Jakarta, Sunday,
He conveyed this after reviewing and handing over assistance to the people of Bireuen Regency at the Balee Panah Refugee Post, Bireuen Regency, Aceh.
On that occasion, the Minister of Home Affairs expressed his appreciation for the positive progress in post-disaster recovery in Bireuen Regency.
According to him, the current condition is much better than on November 29, 2025, when a number of land access in the area were cut off. The condition at that time caused logistical distribution to be hampered.
Through hard work and collaboration of all parties, currently the results of post-disaster recovery are beginning to be seen. This is marked by the increasing number of young people who have operated smartphones and other electronic devices.
According to Tito, the recovery of the technology device is a positive sign, because the community has been able to obtain adequate access to information.
In addition, the impact of reconstruction and rehabilitation of disasters initiated by the government has also succeeded in normalizing the distribution of logistics, gas, and fuel. Tito said the government would continue to work hard to encourage full recovery in post-disaster areas.
On that occasion, Tito revealed that in low-lying areas affected by disasters in Aceh, there were generally major problems in the form of hampered activities due to mud. Another issue, he continued, is the damage to people's homes.
Therefore, the government continues to coordinate and hold meetings to overcome this problem. He ensured that the progress of post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction would be accelerated, especially in the repair of schools, houses of worship, to boarding schools. He invited all parties to be patient and wait for the results of the government's hard work.
"I have been fasting since the first day, it was in Aceh Tamiang. This week I deliberately want to convey a message. My presence directly meets you, showing that the central government is not silent. We will solve the existing problems," he said.
To note, on this occasion, Tito also handed over assistance to the Bireuen community. The assistance includes hundreds of packages of worship equipment, thousands of pieces of Muslim clothing for the community, and hundreds of pieces of jackets for children and adults.
