Kaops: ODC has predicted an increase in KKB disturbances in Yahukimo

JAYAPURA - The Cartenz Peace Operations Task Force (Satgas ODC) has predicted an increase in security disturbances carried out by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Yahukimo Regency, after members of the Kopi Tua Heluka KKB escaped from Wamena Prison in Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Mountains.

"Since the members of the KKB Kopi Tua Heluka escaped from Wamena Prison on February 25, 2025, we have predicted an increase in security," said Kaops Damai Cartenz Brigjen Pol Faizal Rahmadani in Jayapura, Saturday.

He said that currently there are 23 cases of security disturbances carried out by the KKB and its sympathizers, while in 2025 from January to February only two cases occurred.

Therefore, said Faizal, his party strengthened security by increasing the number of Cartenz Peace Task Force personnel, which is now recorded at 250 personnel in Yahukimo Regency.

In addition to adding personnel, he said, together with other units, they also increased patrols, especially to areas prone to security disturbances from the KKB.

He said the ODC Task Force had also arrested 12 KKB members in the Yahukimo Regency area, so it was hoped that the number would continue to increase, ODCh.
