Threads Users Can Now Share Posts to Instagram Stories

JAKARTA - Threads has launched a new feature that makes its platform more integrated with Instagram. Users can now easily share posts on Threads to Instagram Stories.

With this new feature, users don't need to capture the screen on the upload they want to share to the Instagram Story. Users can even preview the Story upload without having to exit the Threads application first.

"We've just made it easier for you to share your posts to Instagram. When you tap the share button on a post, you'll see the option to add it to an Instagram Story," Threads said, quoted on Saturday, February 21, 2026.

Before this feature, Threads users were also connected to Instagram through several features. They can share Threads uploads directly to the Instagram Feed or Direct Messenger (DM).

This new feature proves that Meta continues to strengthen the relationship between the two platforms. The presence of this new feature also proves that Threads is very dependent on the Instagram ecosystem to experience growth.

This integration strategy has also proven to be fruitful. The number of monthly active users on Threads has jumped drastically in one year, from 200 million in 2024 to 400 million in August 2025.

The latest market data, quoted via TechCrunch, shows that Threads now has a higher daily usage rate than the X platform on mobile devices. However, X still leads on the web version.
