Ministry of Research, Technology and Innovation Opens Opportunities for Research Collaboration with JICA Japan
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) strengthened strategic cooperation in the fields of higher education, science, and industry-academic collaboration through collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in a meeting in Jakarta, Friday (20/2).
Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek), Brian Yuliarto appreciated the long-standing collaboration between Indonesia and JICA, which includes strengthening infrastructure, research facilities, and capacity development for universities through partnerships with Japanese campuses and companies.
"We are also open if JICA can provide input or bring experts to help identify the direction and priority sectors that need to be developed by Indonesia," said the Minister of Science and Technology through a statement in Jakarta, Saturday.
Minister Brian emphasized that at this time his party is currently drafting a master plan for the development of higher education, science, and technology infrastructure as a national policy direction that is integrated and open to input from JICA.
In line with this, JICA Chief Representative, Sachiko Takeda, emphasized the commitment to strengthen collaboration in the fields of higher education, science, and technology, including industry-academia collaboration.
Furthermore, he explained that currently another project is being formulated to strengthen science, technology, and art at five Indonesian universities.
"We want to contribute to strengthening industry-academic collaboration by involving Japanese companies," said Sachiko Takeda.
Through this meeting, the Ministry of Education and Research and JICA agreed to continue to strengthen synergy in supporting the transformation of Indonesian higher education that is globally competitive and inclusive.
This targeted and sustainable collaboration is expected to strengthen the research and innovation ecosystem, encourage industry involvement, and expand access and equity in higher education in Indonesia.
