BMKG Issues Warning of Potential Strong Winds up to 30 Knots in Bali Waters
DENPASAR - The Denpasar Regional Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BBMKG) has asked the public to be aware of the potential for strong winds in Bali waters, which are estimated to be up to 30 knots on February 22-25, 2026.
"Be aware of the potential for strong winds in the waters north and south of Bali," said BBMKG Regional III Praktirawan Maria in Denpasar, Bali, Saturday, February 21.
Based on the Denpasar BMKG analysis, the wind movement pattern in the waters north of Bali moves from a west-northwest direction with an estimated speed of up to 30 knots or about 55 kilometers per hour.
Meanwhile, in the waters south of Bali, the wind direction is expected to move from southwest-northwest with the same speed, namely up to 30 knots or about 55 kilometers per hour.
His party estimates that the sea wave height in this period of up to 2.5 meters is likely to occur in the Badung Strait, the northern Lombok Strait and the southern Bali Strait.
Then, a sea wave height of 2.5 to 4 meters is predicted to occur in the South Bali Waters and the southern Lombok Strait.
Denpasar BMKG explained that the wind and sea wave conditions were risky for shipping safety.
Ferry operators are asked to be aware of wind speeds reaching 21 knots and wave heights reaching 2.5 meters.
Furthermore, the barge operator is advised to be vigilant when the wind speed is 16 knots and the wave height reaches 1.5 meters.
Meanwhile, fishermen's boat users are asked to be aware of wind speeds of more than 15 knots or about 27 kilometers per hour and wave heights of up to 1.25 meters.
