Central Java Police Seized 67.4 Kg of Fireworks
Central Java Regional Police secured around 67.4 kilograms of various types of chemicals suspected of being used as raw materials for making firecrackers from various local areas during the enforcement operation from February 17 to 20, 2026.
Head of Public Relations of Central Java Police, Kombes Artanto, said that the action against the dangerous materials for firecrackers, among others, was carried out by the ranks of the Batang, Magelang, Sragen, Temanggung, Cilacap, and Pekalongan City Police.
Various types of chemicals that were secured include sulfur powder (sulfur), potassium chlorate (KClO3), aluminum powder (Al), and charcoal powder (carbon).
Artanto said that these chemicals are widely used for agricultural and industrial needs.
From these findings, around 28.6 kilograms of which were the result of an operation carried out by the Batang Police, have also been destroyed by the Gegana Team of the Central Java Police.
"This step is a form of prevention to provide a sense of security and comfort, especially for people who carry out worship during Ramadan," he said as quoted by ANTARA.
He explained that making, possessing, storing, and distributing explosives without a permit can be charged under Article 306 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.
"Currently, the police are still investigating and tracing the distribution channels of the misused materials, including the pattern of circulation through social media and online platforms," he said.
Previously, three explosions that were suspected to have come from the process of making firecrackers occurred in the Central Java region.
The first incident occurred in Toroh District, Grobogan Regency, on February 15, 2026, which injured three teenagers and caused a house to be damaged.
The second case occurred on February 18, 2026 in Sukorejo District, Kendal Regency, which resulted in one person being injured, and the last occurred on February 19, 2026 in Kertek District, Wonosobo Regency, which injured a teenager.
