Yusril encourages strengthening supervision to prevent maladministration practices
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Legal, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra encourages the strengthening of public service supervision to prevent maladministration practices.
"In the context of Indonesia, this mandate is constitutionally carried out by the Ombudsman as the only state institution authorized by law to prevent and resolve maladministration in the provision of public services," said Yusril as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, February 21.
Yusril associates the role of the Ombudsman with national priority agendas, including Indonesia's process as a member of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), which emphasizes the importance of preventing and resolving maladministration in public services.
Yusril emphasized that the Ombudsman is an integral part of the nation's efforts to meet global governance standards.
As the Coordinating Minister for Human Rights, Imipas, Yusril considers the role of the Ombudsman to be very strategic in the sectors under his coordination.
In the field of law, he said, the Ombudsman ensures that the enforcement and judicial processes run in accordance with the principles of legal certainty and are free from maladministration.
Then on the issue of human rights, the Ombudsman contributes to preventing inhumane treatment in public services and law enforcement.
Meanwhile, in the field of corrections, the Ombudsman is considered an important partner in overseeing the fulfillment of the basic rights of inmates and preventing maladministration practices,
"In the field of immigration, the Ombudsman guarantees transparent, easily accessible, and free from abuse of authority immigration services," he said.
Yusril also congratulated and appreciated the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia for the preparation of the 2025 Annual Report which was launched on Friday (20/2).
Yusril argues that the report is not only an administrative document, but a portrait of the progress of public service supervision during the 25 years of the Ombudsman RI's journey, an institution that is now increasingly relevant in ensuring that the state is present fairly, professionally, and responsive to all citizens.
Yusril said that the submission of the annual ORI report must be interpreted as a joint step in improving the quality of public services in Indonesia.
"I believe that with the collective commitment of the government, the Indonesian Ombudsman, the business world, universities, and the community, we can realize a more just, more transparent, and more humane Indonesia towards the Golden Indonesia 2045," said the Coordinating Minister.
