Good News From Boyolali: Milk Production In This Regency Increases To 12.53 Million Liters

JAKARTA - The Department of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries (Dispernakkan) of Boyolali Regency in Central Java said that dairy cow's milk production in its area in 2021 is estimated to increase compared to the previous year.

"This can be seen from the data on cow's milk production in Boyolali in the first three months (January-March) this year, which reached 12,534,366 liters, while in 2020 the same period was 12,483,665 liters or an increase of 50,701 liters," said Head of Boyolali Disnakkan Bambang Purwadi, in Boyolali, quoted from Antara, Wednesday 2 June.

According to Bambang Purwadi, dairy cow's milk production in Boyolali in 2020 reached a total of 49,934,660 liters. Meanwhile, milk production this year is assumed to increase to 50,137,464 liters by the end of December.

Bambang said Boyolali is known as the largest milk producer in Central Java, so its production is to support national nutritional needs. So, Boyolali is often dubbed the "City of Milk".

Dairy cow's milk production usually goes to the Village Unit Cooperative (KUD) which is then sent to the Dairy Processing Industry (IPS) in Central Java.

He said the population of dairy cows in Boyolali to date has reached 92,857 heads. The number consisted of 5,393 male calves, 7,470 females, 13,471 males young, 18,812 females, 14,426 males and 33,285 females matured.

"Each cow's milk production reaches 10 liters to 20 liters per day. The price of cow's milk at the farmer level is now quite high at IDR 6,000 / liter. In fact, before the pandemic it was still around IDR 4,500 / liter," he said

Nevertheless, his party continues to take steps to increase the population of dairy cattle specifically through artificial insemination programs or free injection mating to farmers. Thus, the population is increasing and milk production will also increase in Boyolali.

Samino (40), one of the dairy farmers in Bendosari Hamlet, RT 21 RW 3, Karangkendal Village, Tamansari Boyolali District, said that his group produces an average of 1,700 liters per day at a price of IDR 6,000/liter.

"Residents in Karangkendal Village, on average, raise dairy cows. An average dairy cow is capable of producing 12 liters per day. The milk production from Tamansari Boyolali is sent to the Salatiga City KUD to be sent to IPS," he said.
