Seskab: President Prabowo is the Only Head of State to Hold Bilateral Meeting with Trump

JAKARTA - Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that President Prabowo Subianto was the only head of state who had a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump in the midst of the agenda of the Board of Peace in Washington DC, USA, Thursday (19/2).

"Yesterday there were more than 15 heads of state and government, yes. So, then the only head of state who had a bilateral with President Trump was one of them and the only one was President Prabowo," said Teddy at the Four Seasons Hotel, Washington DC, United States, Friday., 20 February reported by ANTARA.

The Deputy Minister explained that during the bilateral meeting, a trade agreement was also signed between Indonesia and the United States (US). In the agreement, he said, it was agreed that the reciprocal tariff (reciprocal) was 19 percent for Indonesian imported products.

"I want to remind you again that the agreement is indeed 19 percent. Last year it was 32 percent to 19 percent," he said.

In addition, he continued, there is a 0 percent tariff for 1,819 national flagship products in the fields of agriculture and industry, including coffee, cocoa, palm oil, and semiconductors.

After the signing of the agreement, President Prabowo and President Trump continued the meeting for approximately 30 minutes with a number of other talks.

The Secretary of the Cabinet said that further developments regarding the agreement would be awaited in the near future.

"We'll wait, maybe in the near future. Now 19 percent yes, maybe in the future it will be even better for Indonesia. We'll just wait," concluded Teddy.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and United States (US) President Donald J Trump agreed on concrete steps to implement a reciprocal trade agreement, which the two countries had previously reached.

The agreement was announced on the official White House website, USA, when President Trump and President Prabowo met on the sidelines of the launch agenda of the Board of Peace (BoP) in Washington, DC, Thursday (19/2) local time.

"Recalling the historic agreement between the United States and the Republic of Indonesia on reciprocal trade, the two leaders expressed appreciation for the rapid and consistent steps taken by both countries. They also reaffirmed their strong commitment to implement this major agreement," said a statement from the White House quoted in Jakarta, Friday midnight.
