Dino Patti Djalal reminds Prabowo about the two-state solution at the BoP
JAKARTA - Founder of the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI) Dino Patti Djalal reminded President Prabowo Subianto and the Indonesian government to continue to emphasize the principle of a two-state solution and Palestinian independence in the Board of Peace (BoP).
Dino conveyed that these two things are Indonesia's principled position which must always be the main reference when Indonesia speaks about Palestine in international forums, especially the Peace Council.
"In the BoP, Trump needs to hear this affirmation directly from President Prabowo," Dino said in a written statement in response to the Peace Council meeting on the social media X, monitored in Jakarta, Friday.
The statement was made following his finding that during the meeting of the heads of state of the Peace Council in Washington, D.C., the United States, Thursday local time, President Prabowo did not mention the two-state solution and Palestinian independence in his statement.
In fact, according to the former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, these two principles are the main "trust" of Islamic organizations and national diplomacy figures who are expected to be conveyed by President Prabowo to the Peace Council.
Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Turkey, Pakistan, and Morocco also touched on the issue of a two-state solution in their brief speeches at the Peace Council meeting, Dino said.
"The 'two-state solution' and 'Palestinian statehood' must always explicitly be the main reference in the speeches of the President and the Foreign Minister at all forums regarding Palestine, especially in the Board of Peace," said Dino.
He hopes that Indonesia's firmness in the Peace Council regarding the issue of a two-state solution and Palestinian independence can ensure that Palestinian interests are always protected in the organization.
Dino believes that no party in Indonesia wants the Peace Council "to be misused as a platform to silence the aspirations of the Palestinians".
"It is not enough for Palestinians to be just peaceful, safe, and prosperous; without independence ('statehood'), all of that is meaningless," said the founder of the FPCI, while understanding that the President's failure to mention these two principles may be due to the limited time to speak.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto attended a meeting of heads of state members of the Peace Council in Washington, D.C., which was the organization's first meeting since the Peace Council Charter was signed in Davos, Switzerland, on January 22, 2026.
