Not Arrested, Richard Lee Only Asked to Report

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya has revealed the latest developments regarding the investigation into the alleged violation of consumer protection as well as beauty products and treatments of Richard Lee alias DRL.

Even though he had undergone intensive examination for hours, the police decided not to detain the person concerned.

Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto, revealed that DRL fulfilled the call of investigators accompanied by his lawyer on Thursday, February 19. The marathon examination began from morning to evening.

"DRL arrived at around 10.30 WIB. The examination by the investigators began at 10.40 WIB and ended at 19.00 WIB. A total of 35 questions were asked by the investigators," said Budi Hermanto to reporters, Friday, February 20.

After undergoing a series of examinations, DRL was allowed to leave the Mapolda Metro Jaya investigator's room at around 22.30 WIB. Budi emphasized that DRL's status is now subject to mandatory reporting.

"No detention was carried out against the suspect DRL and the person concerned was required to report. However, we ensure that the investigation process continues to run professionally and proportionately," he said.

Legal Basis and Completeness of the File The decision not to detain DRL, continued Budi, was taken based on the subjective consideration of the investigators and compliance with applicable legal provisions, in particular Article 100 paragraph (5) of Law Number 20 of 2025 concerning the Criminal Procedure Code.

Currently, the investigation team is focusing on completing the case file so that it can be immediately forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office.

"Investigators made a decision independently by referring to the principles of legality, professionalism, proportionality, and accountability. We are completing the case file to be immediately sent to the Prosecutor General (JPU)," added Budi.

Polda Metro Jaya guarantees that the handling of this case is carried out without intervention and in accordance with the applicable procedures. Budi also invites the public to accompany the case as a form of transparency in law enforcement.

"We are very open to public supervision. The handling of this case is carried out professionally, transparently, and accountable to the end," he concluded.
