Maintain Peace, Indonesia Becomes Deputy Commander of the Gaza Stabilization Force
WASHINGTON D.C. - The Board of Peace (BoP) held its first meeting on Thursday, February 19 in Washington DC local time. Indonesia was announced as the Deputy International Commander of the Stabilization Force (ISF) or the Gaza stabilization force.
The ISF was formed with the aim of creating peace in Gaza, Palestine. Indonesia joined the ISF with Morocco, Albania, Kosovo, Kazakhstan, Egypt, and Jordan.
This was conveyed directly by the ISF Commander, Major General Jasper Jeffers. Jasper added that ISF would focus on stabilizing the situation in Gaza so that it would allow the civilian government to run.
ISF was mandated to oversee a ceasefire and security stability, not confrontation.
Indonesia will send 8,000 TNI personnel as part of the ISF in Gaza. TNI troops participating in the ISF will be assigned to non-combat, humanitarian, medical, and reconstruction missions.
