Google Expands Call Recording Feature on Pixel Phones to More Countries
Google is expanding the call recording feature in the Phone app for Pixel phone users globally. This expansion is being carried out on a large scale in the US to Europe.
This call recording feature is different from the Gemini Nano-based Call Log which is exclusively available for the latest Pixel series. This feature is only available for Pixel 6 or newer users.
The operating system (OS) used is also very influential. The Pixel phone used must run Android 14 or newer. Although it has been expanded, this feature is still not available in all countries.
"You must be in a country or region that supports call recording. Call recording is widely available, but not in all countries or regions. Features vary depending on your country or region," Google said, quoted on Friday, February 20.
Recording calls in the Phone app does not work automatically. Users must first enable the feature through the app's settings to start the download process.
After that, users can choose to automatically record their conversations on unknown numbers or specific contacts. Although the user's conversations will be saved, Google still ensures the security and privacy of this feature.
Every time a recording occurs, the phone recipient will receive an automatic voice alert. This alert will appear in the form of a countdown. That way, the phone recipient can know that their conversation is being recorded.
All recording results will be stored in the Home tab of the application which is equipped with a special microphone icon. Users can delete the results of call recordings automatically within a certain period of time.
