UN Security Council Temporarily Postponed Meeting Due to Peace Board, Limits on Authority Displaced?
JAKARTA - The UN Security Council has scheduled a meeting with a number of foreign ministers from the Middle East in New York City, which was originally scheduled for Wednesday local time.
Citing MS Now, the meeting was rescheduled to accommodate the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace (BoP) formed by US President Donald Trump on Thursday, February 19 local time.
The UN Security Council meeting was scheduled at the request of diplomats from Arab and Muslim countries after the Israeli government announced plans to expand its illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank.
The rescheduling of this meeting of the UN Security Council is fueling concerns.
The international community considers that Trump's Peace Board will seek to seize the global authority of the UN Security Council in regulating conflicts and maintaining international peace.
