Katulampa Alert 3, Threat of Flood Shipments to Jakarta Increases
BOGOR - Heavy rain that has hit the Jabodetabek area since Friday, February 20 morning, has caused the Ciliwung River to rise periodically. The Katulampa Dam, Bogor, is now at Alert Status 3 starting at 05.30 WIB this morning.
Bendung Katulampa officer, M. Jaenudin, informed that with the current water level, about 40,000 liters per second of water flow flows towards Jakarta.
Jaenudin revealed that rain in the Bogor and Puncak areas had occurred since Thursday, February 19 at night. The intensity of the rain began to increase at 23.00 WIB, although it was initially still in the moderate category.
This condition makes the Ciliwung River flow crawl up. From the normal position at 40 cm, the water level (TMA) increased to 50 cm at 00.00 WIB, which indicates the start of Alert Status 4.
"The increase is happening slowly, as the rain falls in the Puncak area," said Jae.
The increase in discharge continues to be sustainable. At 02.00 WIB, the TMA was recorded at 60 cm, and continued to jump to 80 cm at 04.00 WIB, this figure is the highest limit for Alert Status 4.
