PAM Jaya and Paljaya Revitalize MCK in Manggarai Jaksel, 100 KK Enjoy More Suitable Toilet

Around 100 families (KK) in RW 09 Manggarai Village, South Jakarta, can now use a more decent communal bathing, washing, kakus (MCK) facility. Previously, the MCK building and supporting systems in the area were damaged and no longer comfortable to use.

This condition has a direct impact on the quality of life of residents. In addition to declining infrastructure, the previous waste disposal system is also inadequate.

Seeing the situation, PAM Jaya and Paljaya revitalized the communal MCK in two points, namely RT 14 and RT 15 RW 09 Manggarai. The repair not only targets the physical building, but also the waste treatment system.

Now, the facility is equipped with a biopal waste treatment system. Waste is no longer directly disposed of into water channels or rivers, but is first processed to meet health standards and be more environmentally friendly.

This improvement is considered important to reduce the risk of pollution and exposure to bacteria such as E. coli. Healthier sanitation is also expected to support the implementation of a clean and healthy lifestyle (PHBS) in the community.

PAM JAYA Operations Director Syahrul Hasan said that repairing communal facilities was part of a shared responsibility in maintaining the quality of people's lives.

"The need for clean water and decent sanitation is the foundation of public health. When shared facilities are repaired and properly managed, the impact is not only on comfort, but also on the overall quality of the environment. We want to ensure that residents have access to safe, clean, and sustainable facilities," said Syahrul in his statement, Friday, February 20.

Syahrul explained that improvements at the neighborhood level would have an impact on river cleanliness and prevention of pollution in the long term. The revitalization process is also said to be running smoothly thanks to the support of residents of RW 09 since the planning stage to implementation.

Meanwhile, Paljaya President Director Untung Suryadi explained that the MCK in RT 14 has now been connected to a centralized domestic wastewater treatment system.

"MCK in RT 14 has entered the centralized domestic wastewater treatment system. Waste that was previously dumped into the river, is now drained gravitationally to the treatment facility so that it no longer pollutes the environment," he said.

This revitalization is one of the efforts to improve sanitation in densely populated settlements in Jakarta. With a more organized system, the indiscriminate disposal of waste is expected to be suppressed and the quality of the residents' environment will also increase.
