Deputy Minister of Forestry Rohmat Marzuki ensures that the results of the audit of 24 PBPH in Sumatra will be announced.

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Forestry (Wamenhut) Rohmat Marzuki ensured that the results of the audit of 24 Forest Utilization Business Permits (PBPH) in Sumatra were announced to the public following the government's inspection process after the floods in three provinces.

The audit covers dozens of PBPH in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra which were affected by the heavy floods. The implementation of the audit of PBPH in the Sumatra region was previously conveyed by the Minister of Finance in a working meeting with Commission IV of the DPR in January.

"Wait for the date of the game," said the Deputy Minister of Finance to Antara when confirmed about the development of the results of the audit of the 24 PBPH that was found after closing the Lesson Learned Workshop entitled Moving from the Site: Planting Inclusive Social Forestry for Sustainable Forests and Prosperous Communities in Jakarta, Thursday.

The Minister of Finance did not provide in-depth statements regarding the development of the audit of 24 forestry business licenses and the extent to which the process was underway.

However, he said that the public should wait, without explaining the details of the interim results and the findings of the audit team.

He emphasized that the results would definitely be announced. However, he did not specify exactly when the government would convey the results of the audit.

"Later there will be an announcement (the results of the audit of 24 Perizinan Berusaha Pemanfaatan Hutan in Sumatra)," he said briefly while rushing to the vehicle that had been waiting in the hotel lobby and left the location of the activity.

It is known that in a working meeting with Commission IV of the DPR RI in Jakarta, Monday (19/1), Deputy Minister of Forestry Rohmat Marzuki stated that the government was auditing 24 Forest Utilization Business Permits (PBPH) in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra following the floods that hit the region in the previous period.

"Currently, we are auditing 24 PBPH in three flood-affected provinces in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra," said the Minister of Finance.

In addition to audits, the Ministry of Forestry has evaluated forest utilization permits and revoked 40 PBPH permits with poor performance covering 1.5 million hectares nationwide in various regions of Indonesia over the past few years.

The revocation of the permit is part of the forest governance arrangement to improve ecological functions, prevent environmental damage, and reduce the risk of repeated hydrometeorological disasters in vulnerable forest areas throughout Indonesia.

Together with the PKH Task Force, the Ministry of Forestry is committed to reclaiming forest areas from illegal palm oil and mines to ensure legal certainty and the sustainability of the local community's environment and future generations.
