AP2SI Supports the Government in Forest Management

BANDUNG - Efforts to protect forest areas in West Java continue to be strengthened through collaboration between the government and the community. The Indonesian Social Forestry Management Association (AP2SI) is actively supporting government policies in maintaining forest sustainability through a social forestry approach that places the community as the main partner in forest management on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

AP2SI encourages forest management that is oriented towards environmental sustainability as well as the welfare of the community around the forest area. Forest farmer group assistance and land rehabilitation are carried out to maintain forest cover and strengthen the function of forests as a buffer ecosystem in West Java which is prone to ecological disasters.

Chairman of the AP2SI West Java Provincial Management Agency, Dedi Junaedi, emphasized that the forest issue cannot be seen solely as an environmental issue. According to him, the people around the forest are the main actors in maintaining sustainability.

"Forest management must be fair. Without justice, we will never achieve sustainability," he said.

As a form of concrete action, the Jaleuleu Forest Farmers Group in collaboration with AP2SI West Java, some time ago has carried out the rehabilitation of the Special Management Forest Area (KHDPK) in Cisondari Village, Bandung Regency. KHDPK is a state forest area managed by placing the community as the main actors in forest protection and restoration.

Chairman of Gapoktanhut Jaleuleu, Ayi Sobari, stated that planting activities were a form of commitment to maintaining forests so that they remain green and sustainable. This synergy between the government, AP2SI, and the community is considered strategic to maintain forest sustainability while strengthening the sustainable economy of the surrounding residents.
