Gojek Gives Compensation to Ojol Driver's Family in Batam, Here's the Full Story
JAKARTA - The sad news came from an online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver in Batam, Riau Islands, after Asep Kurniawan (47 years old), a driver partner in Batam was found dead while carrying out his work on Monday, February 16, 2026.
Gojek also finally visited the family of the late Asep Kurniawan. Since receiving information in the field, the Gojek Batam Task Force team immediately went to the location to provide assistance while police officers from the Balerang Police conducted an initial examination at the crime scene.
The results of the examination showed no signs of violence on the victim's body, strengthening the suspicion that Asep died not as a result of a criminal act.
The body was then evacuated to the Bhayangkara Hospital of the Riau Islands Police for further medical examination. The initial suspicion points to a certain disease suffered by the victim. This is reinforced by the family's statement, Asep suffers from heart disease and is in the process of treatment.
Almarhum Asep left behind a wife and three children. Gustaneli as the wife of the late Asep, said that the deceased had a history of heart disease (swelling).
"It has been 6 months, it still needs recovery and rest. In a day Asep only works a maximum of 4 hours to continue to maintain his condition," he said.
