WhatsApp Develops Spoiler Feature to Help Users Hide Text Message Content

JAKARTA - WhatsApp is developing a new text formatting feature. With this feature, users can hide messages that are considered spoilers or leaks of storylines and important information.

This new feature was first discovered by WABetaInfo in the latest WhatsApp Beta for Android with version 2.26.7.10 on the Google Play Store. This feature is developed to automatically hide the contents of a message when the user sends it to another user.

This spoiler feature doesn't just work in a full sentence. Users can also hide certain text sections that are considered sensitive. This feature can be very useful if users are discussing a hot topic such as a movie or book.

This spoiler tag is not only available in private chats, but also in public chats. That way, the presence of this feature will help users avoid important information that they do not want to know yet.

Until now, users often trick spoilers by sending an image that can only be seen once. However, this method is less practical because users do not consider a one-time image as a spoiler.

As a result, they still get information that they don't want to know early. If you use the spoiler tag feature, users will know that certain words are intentionally hidden by the sender.

To use this new feature, users only need to highlight the desired text and open the formatting menu. After selecting the spoiler option, the application will automatically add two vertical lines at the beginning and end of the message.

Messages sent in this format will not be immediately visible in the chat room. The recipient of the message must tap the message bubble manually to reveal the hidden text content.

It is not known when this feature will be launched in the stable version of Android. There is also no information regarding whether this spoiler feature will be launched for WhatsApp beta users on iOS devices.
