Boyamin Saiman: Ahmad Sahroni's appointment is a momentum to redeem past sins

JAKARTA - Ahmad Sahroni was appointed as Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) through a plenary meeting chaired by Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Thursday, February 19, 2026.

Legal practitioner Boyamin Saiman asked Sahroni to use the momentum of his return to the DPR as a penance for past sins.

"Whatever, Ahmad Sahroni is a member of the DPR who was elected by the people in the election with a five-year term. So this is a momentum for him to redeem his past sins," said Boyamin Saiman.

According to Boyamin, the decision to appoint Sahroni as deputy chairman of Commission III should be respected.

He assessed that, because he had been appointed as the head of Commission III, Sahroni had to work harder.

Even proving that his performance today can be much better than before he was hit with ethical sanctions after the riots last August 2025.

Boyamin explained that the violations committed previously were considered violations of the code of ethics.

Therefore, after returning to duty, Sahroni actually had to show maximum performance.

Boyamin reminded, if it does not work optimally, it could be back in the spotlight.

Furthermore, Boyamin also reminded Sahroni to be careful in speaking and acting in the future.

Boyamin also asked Sahroni to focus again on the dapil that gave him the mandate as a member of the DPR.

One of them is in North Jakarta which still has various urgent problems, ranging from slums to fishermen's lives.

"There are still many slums under the toll road, fishermen in Muara Angke. In fact, Ahmad Sahroni must redeem his past mistakes or sins by doing good and working harder as a member of the DPR," he said.

He added that the public would assess Sahroni's commitment through concrete actions on the ground.

The performance that is felt directly by the community, especially in coastal areas and densely populated areas, is considered the key to restoring public confidence.

Previously, in the plenary meeting for the inauguration of the leadership of Commission III of the DPR RI, Dasco decided that Sahroni replaced Rusdi Masse who resigned from NasDem.

"Ahmad Sahroni will be appointed as Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI to replace Rusdi Masse. For this reason, we as the meeting leaders will ask the members of Commission III of the DPR RI, whether Ahmad Sahroni can be approved to be appointed as Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI," asked Deputy Chairman of the DPR RI Sufmi Dasco Ahmad in the meeting. The participants in the meeting then expressed their agreement.
