Greece et al. Plan African Migrant Repatriation Center

Greece, together with Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, and Denmark, is working on the establishment of a migrant repatriation center in Africa.

"We are working with four other countries - Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and Denmark - to establish a repatriation center in a country outside the European Union, especially in Africa," said Greek Minister for Migration and Asylum Athanasios Plevris, quoted by Sputnik, Thursday, February 19.

He said his party had held a meeting with relevant ministers and a technical group would meet next week to discuss the details of the plan.

According to Plevris, migrants whose applications are rejected and not accepted by their home country will be sent to these centers.

"Detailed plans will be drawn up in the coming months, while the European Parliament needs to approve legislation allowing the establishment of the repatriation center," he said.
