MotoGP Australia Will Move to Adelaide Street Circuit in 2027 Season

JAKARTA - The MotoGP race for the Australian Grand Prix in the 2027 competition season is confirmed to not be held at the Phillip Island Circuit anymore but at the Adelaide Highway Circuit, South Australia.

This decision was announced by the MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group together with the South Australian Government and the City of Adelaide. The first race there is scheduled to take place in November 2027.

"Bringing MotoGP to Adelaide marks an important milestone in the evolution of our championship. The city has a world-class reputation for hosting major sporting events," MotoGP Chief Sporting Officer Carlos Ezpeleta said, quoted from the official website.

The six-year deal will bind the MotoGP in Adelaide until 2032. This agenda marks the first MotoGP Grand Prix held at a downtown street circuit.

The relocation of the race location made the organizers require the implementation of modern safety standards without compromise as the main requirement for the implementation of the most prestigious motorcycle race in the world.

The circuit is about 4.195 km long with 18 corners winding through the city streets. The layout allows drivers to reach speeds of over 340 km per hour.

"From the start, together with the FIM, we ensured that safety was maintained. Every element of the Adelaide Street Circuit has been designed to meet the highest standards of modern MotoGP," said Ezpeleta.

The track design will follow the blueprint of the legendary Adelaide Street Circuit, which previously hosted the most prestigious Formula 1 car race from 1985 to 1995.

The city's layout, culture and passion for big events make Adelaide the perfect home for a premium festival-style urban Grand Prix. It will also provide a unique opportunity to elevate the fan experience to a new level.

South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas hailed the move as a major achievement for his state and proved Australia could compete with other countries in delivering a stunning event.

"This is proof that South Australia has real momentum. Hosting the world's first MotoGP race on a street circuit will give Adelaide a unique offering that attracts domestic and international visitors," he said.
