Arrested by Police at Mardi Gras, Shia LaBeouf: Free Me
JAKARTA - Actor Shia LaBeouf wrote his latest tweet on X or Twitter, shortly after he was reportedly arrested by the police in New Orleans. The actor was arrested on Wednesday, February 18 at a Mardi Gras party in New Orleans.
Launching Deadline, the New Orleans police confirmed the arrest of the actor and explained the reason for the arrest.
"A man identified as Shia LaBeouf, 39, was reported to have made a commotion and was aggressive on Royal Street," said the New Orleans police statement.
"After being removed from the building, the victim reported being attacked by LaBeouf who used his arm (to attack) the victim several times," he said.
Shia LaBeouf was arrested and faces two assault cases with the first trial on March 19. He is said to have returned to Mardi Gras after leaving prison and hospital for treatment.
Then, he uploaded the writing "Free Me" or "Free me" a few hours after the arrest. The tweet was uploaded through his personal X account which has 400 thousand followers.
Even so, this is not the first time for Shia LaBeouf to get involved with the police. He has several cases related to fights and legal issues.
LaBeouf was also sued by his ex-girlfriend, singer FKA Twigs for sexual harassment, violence and emotional pressure. The lawsuit was settled in July in 2025.
The actor was also ordered by the court to undergo rehabilitation since his arrest in 2017 in Georgia.
