Bogor Police Emphasize No Sweeping of Mass Organizations During Ramadan

BOGOR - Bogor Police Chief Wikha Ardilestanto confirmed that there was no sweeping by community organizations (ormas) during Ramadan 1447 Hijriah in the Bogor Police's jurisdiction. The ban was emphasized to maintain public security and order (kamtibmas) during the holy month.

"Yes, sweeping is not allowed. We from the Bogor Police will carry out joint patrols every night during Ramadan," said Wikha, quoted by Antara, Thursday, February 19.

He emphasized that law enforcement was the authority of the police, so it was not justified that a certain group had a unilateral raid for whatever reason. For this reason, the police will prioritize preventive measures through routine patrols.

The joint patrol involves Satsamapta, Satlantas, and the support of Brimob Kedung Halang. Security is focused on a number of vulnerable points in Bogor Regency and is divided into three times, namely before breaking the fast, before performing tarawih prayers, and before sahur.

According to Wikha, this step is taken to prevent various potential disturbances of order, including Sahur On The Road (SOTR) which leads to fights, wild racing, glove wars, to thuggery.

"We appeal to the public to use the month of Ramadan for positive activities, such as Al-Quran recitation and religious studies in mosques, not activities that have the potential to cause security disturbances," he said.

In addition, supervision is also increased in crowded areas that are usually the location of ngabuburit to anticipate illegal racing and criminal acts. The public is asked to immediately report if they find suspicious activities through the 110 call center service so that they can be quickly followed up by officers.

He hopes that with intensive patrols during Ramadan and a firm ban on sweeping organizations, the kamtibmas situation in Bogor Regency can remain safe, orderly, and conducive.
