There are 200,000 MSMEs Affected by West Sumatra, North Sumatra and Aceh Disasters
JAKARTA - Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) Maman Abdurrahman reported that there were 201,953 MSME entrepreneurs who were affected by flash floods and landslides in North Sumatra, Aceh and West Sumatra.
Maman said that the data was based on the results of joint mapping by BSI, BRI, Mandiri, BNI, BPD Aceh, and Pegadaian as of February 17, 2026 which recorded 201,953 SME entrepreneurs who were debtors of People's Business Loans (KUR) affected by disasters in three provinces with a total outstanding of Rp. 12.19 trillion.
"The details include 125,200 Acehnese MSME entrepreneurs with outstanding Rp7.38 trillion, 53,200 MSME entrepreneurs in North Sumatra with outstanding Rp3.06 trillion, and 28,400 MSME entrepreneurs in West Sumatra with outstanding Rp1.79 trillion," said Maman in a Coordination Meeting of the Post-disaster Recovery Task Force for Sumatra at the MPR/DPR/DPD RI Building Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 18.
He added that the debtors obtained various financing facilities, including interest rate relief, grace period, re-arrangement of collectibility status, loan restructuring, additional collateral relaxation, ease of access to new KUR, to the proposal for the elimination of credit in accordance with the provisions of Decree Number 2 of 2026.
According to Maman, this policy is expected to provide breathing room for MSME entrepreneurs to reorganize their businesses without being burdened by the pressure of short-term obligations.
In addition to the restructuring scheme, the Ministry of MSME is also preparing the Presidential Assistance (BanPres) for the Rehabilitation of Micro-Enterprises for MSME entrepreneurs who do not have access to banking.
Business capital assistance of IDR 3 million per recipient is planned to be provided to 200,000 micro-enterprises affected by disasters. This program is carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of State Secretary, Bappenas, and local governments.
"MSME entrepreneurs who do not have access to banking need special attention so that the wheels of the economy continue to move and recovery takes place evenly," said Maman.
To support business sustainability, the Ministry of MSME also provides production assistance to reactivate restaurants, cafes, stalls, and shops in affected areas.
The activation of grocery stores and stalls continues through collaboration with local departments and private parties, including the optimization of corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, especially in Aceh.
This effort reflects the spirit of mutual cooperation in accelerating the economic recovery of the community.
On the same occasion, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian as the Head of the Task Force said that a number of people's markets as well as cafes, stalls, and shops had resumed operations after the disaster.
In Aceh, 99 out of 116 people's markets have been operating, while all markets in North Sumatra have 47 units and in West Sumatra 3 units have been functioning normally.
In addition, almost all businesses in North Sumatra and West Sumatra have returned to normal, while in Aceh, about 66 percent of cafes, stalls, and stores affected have resumed sales.
"Markets and MSMEs are important indicators of regional economic movement. When both are back to life, the hope for the economic recovery of the community is more real," said Tito.
