MRT Jakarta Allows Fasting on Trains for a Maximum of 10 Minutes During Ramadan, Only White Water and Dates

JAKARTA - PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) provides flexibility for passengers who carry out fasting during Ramadan 1447 Hijriah. Users of the service are allowed to break their fast while in the train or paid station area when Maghrib time arrives.

Corporate Secretary Division Head of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) Rendy Primartantyo said this policy was implemented as a form of support for customers who continue to use public transportation during breaking the fast.

"As a form of support for customers or passengers who carry out the Ramadan fasting 1447 H, PT MRT Jakarta implements special policies during the month of Ramadan, especially during the breaking of the fast," said Rendy in his statement, Wednesday, February 18.

Passengers are allowed to break their fast in the ratangga or paid areas such as the platform or platform porch (paid concourse). After that, they are asked to continue the breaking of the fast in the unpaid area (unpaid concourse).

However, there are restrictions that must be obeyed. Users of the service are only allowed to break the fast with water and dates, and a maximum of 10 minutes after the Maghrib call to prayer if they are still in the ratangga or paid area.

"Service users are not allowed to break their fast with drinks other than water such as tea, coffee, syrup, soda, and others, as well as snacks other than dates," he explained.

This policy will take effect on Thursday, February 19, 2025, coinciding with the start of the fasting period. In addition to the rules for breaking the fast, MRT Jakarta also presents a campaign titled #MelajuPenuhMakna during Ramadan.

Through this campaign, the DKI Provincial Government's public transportation company also held a number of programs, ranging from educational content, digital activation and interactive promotions, to sharing takjil activities in station areas.

"Through the message 'A More Meaningful Journey with MRT Jakarta', all service users are also invited to remain comfortable and orderly in worship in the midst of dynamic urban mobility," concluded Rendy.
