Nvidia Sells Millions of AI Chips to Meta in Multi-year Deal

JAKARTA - Nvidia announced a multi-year deal with Meta. In the newly signed deal, Nvidia will sell their Artificial Intelligence (AI) chips to Meta Platforms.

This collaboration involves the delivery of existing Blackwell chips as well as the upcoming Rubin AI architecture. In addition, Nvidia will also supply Grace and Vera central processing units (CPUs) to support Meta's infrastructure.

This is Nvidia's latest attempt to compete with other well-known processor manufacturers, such as Intel and AMD. According to a Reuters report, Nvidia is now targeting a wider market, ranging from running AI agents to managing daily databases.

Nvidia explained that its central processor has very high power efficiency for technical tasks. The latest generation of its CPU, Vera, is expected to provide a much greater performance improvement for Meta workloads.

"Meta has had the opportunity to use it on Vera and run some of those workloads. And the results are looking very promising," said Ian Buck, General Manager of Nvidia's Hyperscale Computing Unit, quoted on Wednesday, February 18.

Although Nvidia has never revealed the details of its sales with Meta, the company led by Mark Zuckerberg is believed to be one of the customers that contributes the most to Nvidia's revenue.

In addition to working with Nvidia, Meta is also rumored to be in discussions with Google on using the company's Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) chips. Meta is also still focused on developing its own AI chips.
