Man Drowned in Sunter River, Officers Only Found 2 Bottles of Miras

JAKARTA - An unidentified man was reported missing after drowning in the stream of Jalan Danau Sunter Barat, RT 09/03, Sunter Agung Village, Tanjung Priok District, North Jakarta.

The Tanjung Priok Police Criminal Investigation Unit AKP Handam Samudro, who led the investigation of the crime scene for the report, said that the victim was still being searched by the SAR and BPBD teams in the stream of Jalan Danau Sunter Barat.

"After checking the crime scene, 2 bottles of liquor (miras) alcohol were found in the area of the incident. Until now, the victim who drowned has not been found," said AKP Handam when confirmed, Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

Police are still looking for information from a number of witnesses regarding the report of the incident.

Meanwhile, according to a witness with the initials JP, he heard the screams of several fishermen who shouted for help because someone had fallen.

"The witness who heard the screams ran to the source of the sound and JP's witness dived in to intend to help," he said.

However, the rescue efforts carried out by the witness JP did not bear fruit. The victim first drowned in the river.

"JP witness only saw the bubble from the kali (river). Later, residents reported the incident to the police," he said.

Until now, the police along with the joint SAR team are still searching for the whereabouts of the missing victim who drowned. Meanwhile, the case is still being handled by the Tanjung Priok Police.
