Valve Loses Steam Deck Stock in the US Due to Memory Scarcity

JAKARTA - The problem that many technology companies feared finally happened at Valve Corporation. The company confirmed that all models of the Steam Deck OLED are out of stock in the US.

There are several factors that trigger this problem, one of which is the limited supply of RAM and storage components. When opening the official Steam store page, the status 'Out of Stock' will be visible on all variants of the Steam Deck.

This problem seems to have only occurred in the US because in other regions, Valve still has enough units in stock. It is not yet known which other regions have run out of stock of the handheld PC gaming.

"The Steam Deck OLED may run out of stock periodically in some regions due to memory and storage shortages," Valve said on its official page, quoted on Wednesday, February 18.

This scarcity has caused the price of the Steam Deck to rise drastically on third-party seller sites. Some platforms even offer these devices for prices of up to 1,000 US dollars (Rp16.8 million) per unit.

In fact, the official retail price should only range from US$549 (Rp9.2 million) to US$649 (Rp10.9 million). Valve is not the only technology company affected by this global component crisis.

This supply problem is also known to have an impact on the delay of the launch of other new products such as Steam Frame and Steam Machine. Valve was forced to reschedule the introduction of the device until the component problem was resolved.
