Snapchat Tests Creator Subscriptions Feature, Strengthens Creator Monetization
JAKARTA - Snapchat has introduced a new feature called Creator Subscriptions, which is designed to deepen fan engagement while opening up greater revenue opportunities for creators on its platform.
Snap Inc. said the program would enter an alpha test phase starting February 23 to a limited group of creators based in the United States (US).
Later, in the coming weeks, Creator Subscriptions are also planned to be expanded to other Snap Stars creators in Canada, the UK, and France in the coming weeks.
"Creator Subscriptions introduces a layer of premium connection directly into the way Snapchat users interact with creators through Stories, Chats, and replies," the company wrote in its official announcement.
Through this subscription feature, fans will get a number of benefits, such as:
Exclusive content in the form of special Snaps and Stories for customers Priority replies on the creator's public Stories Ad-free experience in the creator's StoriesThis program will give creators the freedom to experiment, reward their supporters, and build recurring revenue streams on Snapchat that grow along with their audiences.
Starting February 23, Snapchat users in markets supported through iOS devices can begin subscribing to participating creators, including Jeremiah Brown, Harry Jowsey, and Skai Jackson.
"Creator Subscriptions will be expanded to more Snapchat users, creators, and devices in the coming weeks as we carefully scale the program," the announcement concluded.
