The Government Allocates Additional TKD of IDR 10.65 Trillion for Regions Affected by the Sumatra Disaster

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa officially added the allocation of Transfer to the Region (TKD) for disaster-affected areas in three provinces in Sumatra, namely Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, reaching Rp. 10.65 trillion in the 2026 fiscal year.

According to Purbaya, the total additional budget is the maximum value approved by the government, following the proposal of the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian.

"The additional allocation of TKD was approved at Rp. 10.65 trillion, so it is not an amount of Rp. 7-8 trillion, we take the maximum according to the proposal from the Minister of Home Affairs," said Purbaya in the Post-Disaster Recovery Task Force for Sumatra at the DPR Building, Wednesday, February 18.

He added that this additional budget would be given to 67 districts in the three provinces.

The details, 47 areas are areas that are directly affected by disasters and experience a decrease in TKD, while the other 20 areas are not directly affected but also experience a decrease in allocation.

"Everything will be revised upwards," he said.

Purbaya explained that the additional TKD includes the settlement of arrears in the Revenue Sharing Fund (DBH), additional DBH, additional General Allocation Fund (DAU), and special autonomy funds for Aceh.

Until February 17, 2026, the Ministry of Finance has disbursed TKD of IDR 13 trillion to the three provinces or an increase of 30 percent compared to the same period last year which reached IDR 10.78 trillion.

Purbaya said that the regional cash condition in January 2026 was considered adequate, namely Aceh recorded Rp3.5 trillion in cash, North Sumatra Rp4.5 trillion, and West Sumatra Rp1.8 trillion, so that the total available budget reached Rp9.9 trillion.

"So we make sure that money is not a problem for them to build or handle disasters," he added.

Purbaya said that the additional TKD was targeted to be liquidated by February 28.

"This is starting to be transferred to areas with almost no requirements," he said.

He added that after the determination, the additional distribution of funds was carried out for three months, namely 40 percent in February, 30 percent in March, and 30 percent in April.

"This is the additional one, automatically we transfer like that. So if we look at the picture here, what is approved is Rp. 10.648 trillion according to the instructions from the President. So the additional distribution of TKD in February will reach at least the fourth week, Rp. 4.2 trillion," he explained.

Purbaya said that the use of the funds was prioritized for the main government spending, disaster management, and other urgent needs.

According to him, with the allocated funds and schedule that have been set, the regions are expected to immediately utilize this additional funds in the next one to two weeks to encourage economic recovery and growth.

However, Purbaya emphasized that in essence, local governments currently do not experience a lack of funds, because routine transfers are still carried out every beginning of the month according to schedule without excessive requirements.
