Seskab: President Prabowo to the US to Discuss Strategic Economic Cooperation
JAKARTA - Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya said President Prabowo Subianto's working visit to the United States (US) was focused on discussing strategic cooperation in various economic fields.
He said President Prabowo arrived in the United States on Tuesday (17/2) local time. The Garuda Indonesia-1 aircraft carrying the President and his entourage landed at Andrews Military Base, Washington DC, United States.
"The meeting focused on discussing strategic cooperation in various economic fields with several negotiations and trade agreements," Teddy said in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 18.
Teddy conveyed that President Prabowo's arrival was greeted by hundreds of Indonesian diaspora consisting of students, workers and Indonesian citizens living in Washington DC and its surroundings.
President Prabowo is scheduled to hold a meeting directly in the evening local time, as well as several meetings with the US government and businessmen.
This visit is part of President Prabowo's active direct diplomacy to increase the economic chain and productivity of domestic industries.
Also accompanying President Prabowo on the flight to the US were Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
President Prabowo is scheduled to attend three agendas, namely a meeting with a group of American businessmen on Wednesday (18/2), the first high-level conference (summit) of the Gaza Peace Council (BoP) on Thursday (19/2), and a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump for one of them to sign a reciprocal trade agreement (agreement on reciprocal trade/ART), which has been negotiated since 2025.
Regarding the BoP agenda, the inaugural summit will be led directly by the United States President Donald Trump Jr. as the initiator.
Indonesia officially became a member of the BoP after President Prabowo Subianto signed the charter establishing the institution during the launch event in Davos, Switzerland on January 22, 2026.
Apart from Indonesia, other countries that also signed the Peace Council charter include the United States as the initiator, then Hungary, Bahrain, Morocco, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Egypt, Jordan, Kazakhstan, the Republic of Kosovo, Mongolia, Pakistan, Paraguay, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Uzbekistan.
