Heavy Rain Causes 32 Roads to be Potholed in Bogor

BOGOR - A total of 32 potholes on roads due to high rainfall have been identified in the Bogor City area since the beginning of January 2026. Of these, the Bogor City Government (Pemkot) said that 90 percent of the road sections under its jurisdiction had been handled.

This achievement was conveyed in a coordination meeting for handling roads led by the Mayor of Bogor, Dedie A. Rachim, Wednesday, February 18, at the Bogor City Hall.

Dedie explained that the high intensity of rain triggered damage to a number of roads, especially those with heavy traffic levels and drainage systems that need to be strengthened.

"For roads that are the authority of the Bogor City Government, the progress of handling has reached 90 percent. Officers continue to move in the field so that all points can be completed immediately," he said.

He detailed, of the 32 points recorded, most of them were on city roads which were the responsibility of the City Government. The repairs were carried out gradually with priority given to points that were high risk to the safety of road users.

However, Dedie admitted that handling potholes on sections that are the responsibility of the central government and the provincial government is still taking place more slowly. Administrative factors and the availability of repair materials are said to be the main obstacles.

"As soon as the material is available, we will immediately finish it. For roads that are the responsibility of the central and provincial governments, we continue to coordinate so that repairs can be accelerated," he said.

He hopes that the acceleration of the repair of national and provincial roads can be realized immediately to minimize the potential for traffic accidents and ensure the comfort and safety of the community.

This step, he continued, is part of the Bogor City Government's commitment to maintaining the quality of infrastructure and responding quickly to citizen complaints regarding damaged road conditions.
