Government strengthens Java-Sumatra crossing, 5 sea routes are on alert ahead of Eid 2026 2
BANDAR LAMPUNG - To facilitate the Java-Sumatra crossing during the 2026 Lebaran transportation, the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi said that his party had worked with related parties to prepare five sea crossing routes.
According to Dudy, in Bandarlampung, Lampung, Tuesday, the five sea crossing routes are the Merak Port to Bakauheni Port, Ciwandan Port to PT Wijaya Karya Beton Port, and Ciwandan Port to Bakauheni Port.
"Then, the BBJ Bojonegoro Port to the BBJ Muara Pilu, and from the PT Krakatau Bandar Samudera Port to the Panjang Port," he said, quoted from ANTARA.
He also appealed to all operators to prepare services as they had implemented in the previous year, namely the Christmas and New Year period and Lebaran transportation.
"With this arrangement, it is expected to serve the community well and we have asked the BBJ Port to prepare 12 units of ships that will transport large vehicles, at the Ciwandan Port, we have also prepared 12 units of ships that will transport people who want to cross," he said.
He explained that to improve the smooth flow of homecoming during the 2026 Lebaran transportation, a delay system will also be implemented at the Bakauheni Port which is spread across 10 toll road points and arterial roads around it.
"We are preparing to help all preparations so that this crossing is smooth. For the BBJ Bojonegara Port, it will serve large trucks VIII and IX, the Bakauheni Port is prepared without vehicle transfers, and the Krakatau Port Bandar Samudera is prepared as a contingency measure," he added.
Overall, for Lebaran 2026 sea transportation, there are 829 units of ships with a capacity of 3.26 million passengers and the available infrastructure is 636 seaports.
For land transportation, the available facilities are 31,345 bus units with a capacity of 1.2 million seats and facilities of 115 type A terminals and 62 type B terminals.
Transportation for crossing is available with 255 ships with a capacity of 6.1 million passengers and 770 thousand vehicles, and the available infrastructure is 15 crossing points and 29 ports.
Air transportation is available with 392 aircraft units with a capacity of 8.2 million passengers and 257 airports, then railway transportation is available with 3,821 facilities with an intercity capacity of 3.58 million passengers, regional 2.9 million passengers, and commuter 51.5 million passengers with 668 railway stations.
