28 Ships are Ready to Serve the 2026 Lebaran Homecoming Flow in Maluku

AMBON - A total of 28 ships have been prepared to serve the 2026 Lebaran homecoming flow in Maluku Province, to ensure the smooth and safety of community mobility between islands.

The head of the Maluku Provincial Transportation Office, Muhammad Malawat in Ambon, Tuesday, said that the dozens of ships consisted of pioneering ships and commercial ships operating on a number of strategic routes in Maluku.

"In total, there are 28 ships that we have prepared to support the Lebaran homecoming this year, both those under the authority of the central, provincial, and district governments," he said, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 17.

He explained that for the pioneering shipping transportation, there were 16 ships spread across 55 routes.

The details, the central authority has three ships serving four lanes with three operators, the provincial authority has six ships serving 13 lanes with three operators, and the regency authority has seven ships serving 34 lanes with three operators.

Meanwhile, for commercial shipping, 12 ships are prepared to serve four routes.

The details are, the provincial authority has 10 ships on two lanes with three operators, as well as the district authority has two ships on two lanes with two operators.

Malawat said the readiness of the fleet had been accompanied by operational supervision and cross-agency coordination to ensure the safety aspects of shipping.

"In addition to ensuring the readiness of the fleet, we also monitor the suitability of the ship, the readiness of the crew, and the safety facilities for passengers," he said.

He added that the Maluku Provincial Dishub also coordinated with port authorities and ship operators to anticipate a surge in the number of passengers ahead of the peak of the homecoming and Lebaran 2026 return flows.

"The regional government is committed to providing safe, comfortable and affordable marine transportation services for the Maluku people who want to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with their families in their hometowns," he continued.

"We hope that the entire 2026 Lebaran transportation process will run smoothly without any significant obstacles, so that people can travel safely and securely," he concluded.
