PLN NP Completes Malaysia ECRL Project Faster
JAKARTA - PT PLN Nusantara Power (PLN NP) through its subsidiary, PT PLN Nusantara Power Construction (PLN NPC) has successfully completed the energized project East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) Feeder Station (FS) 01 in Tunjung, Kelantan, Malaysia. This project was completed on January 15, 2026, 15 days ahead of the target of January 31, 2026.
PLN Nusantara Power President Director Ruly Firmansyah said that this early completion was appreciated by Tenaga Switchgear (TSG) as the Project Delivery Partner (PDP) and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) as the network owner.
"This success is an important milestone for the PLN NP Group in expanding its presence in the international market, especially in the electrification of sustainable transportation infrastructure projects," said Ruly, quoted Tuesday, February 17.
Meanwhile, PLN NPC President Director Djarot Hutabri said that this project is the first foreign project of PLN NPC which is the foundation for the company's global expansion.
"This achievement reflects the capabilities, professionalism, and commitment of all PLN NPC personnel in providing reliable, timely, and global standard electricity construction services. The appreciation from TSG and TNB is proof that we are able to provide added value for strategic partners," said Djarot.
In this project, PLN NPC carried out design and build for the electrification of ECRL Feeder Station which includes the construction of a 132 kV Switching Station, installation of Overhead Transmission Line (OHL) and Underground Cable along 3 km, as well as other supporting works. This project is part of the electrification system of a double track line along 665 km which connects Port Klang in Selangor to Kota Bharu in Kelantan.
ECRL is an electric train project that uses electricity entirely for passenger and cargo operations. The network is projected to reduce carbon emissions by one million tons of CO₂ per year after it starts operating in 2027, while strengthening connectivity between the East Coast and the central region of Peninsular Malaysia.
As part of the EPCC consortium, PLN NP is involved in the procurement of major equipment, while PLN NPC executes construction and commissioning work. This project has been ongoing since June 2024 and is targeted to be completed in 2026.
With more than 20 years of experience in the field of power generation and transmission, PLN NPC presents a comprehensive EPC solution ranging from power plants, transmission, substations, to reliability improvement programs (Availability Improvement Program). The green energy portfolio, which includes hydropower, geothermal, and solar energy, further strengthens the position of the PLN NP Group in supporting the energy transition and ESG agenda at the regional level.
