Sumur Libo SE #86 Pertamina Hulu Rokan Produces 1,274 Barrels per Day

PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) has achieved an extraordinary achievement after successfully conducting the first production test from the Libo SE #86 well in Siak Regency, Riau Province. The oil well is capable of producing up to 1,274 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) by early 2026.

GM Zona Rokan, Andre Wijanarko said, this achievement is special because the production results show a 0 percent Water Cut, which means that the hydrocarbons coming out of the earth's belly are pure oil without being mixed with water.

"The success of the Libo SE #86 well is not just luck. PHR implements a precise and innovative technical strategy to maximize the potential in the Top Menggala layer at a depth of 5,680 feet and with a maximum permeability (perm) of 2.2 Darcy," said Andre, quoted Tuesday, February 27.

He added that some of the keys to technical success that were applied included selective perforation or a method of selectively drilling well pipes to ensure that oil flows from the reservoir depth point with the most potential.

Then the optimization of the ESP pump, in the form of the use of a low-rate submerged electric pump that is adjusted to the characteristics of the optimal production rate of the well.

Furthermore, the installation of sophisticated equipment in the form of a combination of Advanced Gas Handler (AGH) at the subsurface pump and Gas Separator at the surface facility to ensure that the oil flow remains stable even though there is gas content (gassy condition).

"This achievement is a tangible proof that with the innovation of technology and hard work of PHR officers, Blok Rokan still has great potential to support Indonesia's national energy resilience," explained Andre.

Currently, he continued, the team in the field is moving quickly to drill the Libo SE #88 well at the same wellpad location.

A total of four additional wells will be drilled immediately (infill drilling) as a follow-up to the success of this Libo SE #86 drilling, which aims to maximize the potential of oil in the Libo SE area. Cross-functional collaboration from the SSDP Team, DWI Team, PTE Team, P&O Team and Land-CorSec Team is the key to the success of this drilling in the future.

"Hopefully in the future, PHR can continue to prove the reliability of operations while maintaining HSE aspects for energy resilience," he concluded.
