SPPG in East Kalimantan Clarifies Viral Video of MBG Kelapa Muda
JAKARTA - The Natural Gas Service Unit (SPPG) of the One Rhino Gas Kitchen, East Kalimantan (Kaltim) clarified the viral video of the distribution of Free Nutritious Food (MBG) menu in the form of young coconut at SD Negeri 001 Muara Badak which had sparked public debate.
"We emphasize that the video circulating does not display the entire menu that we distribute, so that the information received by the public is incomplete and creates misunderstanding," said Head of SPPG Natural Gas Kitchen Badak Satu, Abdi Nolima in Muara Badak, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, February 17.
Abdi explained that the 17-second video that was widely discussed on social media accounts only showed one type of menu without including the complete menu context received by students.
The food distribution activity that became the focus of netizens was carried out on Thursday, February 5 in the working area of the SPPG Gas Alam Badak Satu Kitchen.
On the day of the implementation, the kitchen of the provider actually distributed two types of food packages at once to students to meet the established nutritional standards.
The first package distributed was a light menu or snack containing whole young coconut, bread with abon topping, boiled eggs, and packaged milk.
Meanwhile, the second package is the main menu consisting of white rice, egg dish cooked in soy sauce, fried tofu, stir-fried vegetables of carrots and corn, and cut watermelon.
The video which then spread widely was originally documented and uploaded by the school solely to show the enthusiasm of students when receiving food assistance.
However, because the documentation only highlights the moment of sharing young coconuts specifically, the wider community then concluded that government assistance was limited to the fruit alone.
Abdi admitted that the use of whole young coconuts was indeed not a common dish in the MBG program, so it was natural that it triggered various wild speculations when it was shown without detailed explanation.
"The incompleteness of the visual narrative in the initial upload was the main factor that made the information develop not in accordance with the facts of the distribution that occurred in the field," said Abdi.
Responding to the polemics that have occurred in the public space, his party publicly apologized to all the people of East Kalimantan for this information.
SPPG is committed to immediately conducting a thorough evaluation of the menu planning system so that the variety of food served is easier to understand and accepted by the community.
