Fear of Social Sanctions is the Reason for This Lover Couple to Throw a Baby in South Tambun

BEKASI - Police arrested a couple who allegedly deliberately threw away a baby born out of wedlock at the Taman Puri Cendana Housing Complex, Tridayasakti Village, South Tambun District, Bekasi Regency, Monday, February 16.

South Tambun Police Chief Wuryanti said the couple had the initials MS (23) and RR (29). Both of them allegedly deliberately abandoned their baby for fear of facing social consequences because they were not married.

"The lovers with the initials MS and RR allegedly deliberately abandoned their baby because they were afraid of not being married," said Wuryanti in Cikarang, Antara, Monday, February 16.

This incident was revealed after residents found a baby boy who was only a few hours old. The baby was then taken to a clinic for initial treatment before being referred to the Bekasi Regency Hospital.

Based on the information from the midwife who examined, the baby weighed 2.6 kilograms with a length of 50 centimeters and was in good health.

Residents then reported the discovery of the baby to the police. Officers conducted an investigation and in a short time managed to secure the baby's parents. MS was arrested around 16.00 WIB, while RR was secured two hours later.

"Both perpetrators were secured in our jurisdiction, namely the South Tambun District," explained Wuryanti.

According to the police, MS and RR are lovers who are not married. The two are suspected of abandoning the baby because they are afraid of facing social sanctions from their living environment.

In addition to securing the two perpetrators, the police also seized evidence in the form of a black Honda Beat Street motorcycle and a blue cloth used when leaving the baby.

Wuryanti appealed to the public not to take shortcuts in dealing with life problems and immediately seek help if they experience difficulties.
