Heavy Rain Continues to Pour, National Road in Agam is Under Water and Cannot Be Passed
AGAM - The national road connecting Padang to West Pasaman is submerged in a flood of 1-2 meters in Tapian Kandih, Salareh Aia Barat Village, Palembayan District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra, Monday, February 16 afternoon.
As a result, the road access cannot be passed by two-wheeled or four-wheeled vehicles.
Head of the Agam BPBD Implementation Team Rahmat Lasmono said the flood caused the traffic flow on the national road to stop completely.
"Two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles cannot pass through the area," said Rahmat in Lubuk Basung, quoted from Antara.
According to him, the flooding occurred due to high rainfall that hit the area since noon.
Water began to flood the road at around 17.04 WIB and also submerged a number of residents' houses around the location.
Rahmat ensured that there were no casualties in the incident. He said that the Tapian Kandih area was often flooded when rainfall increased and the waters of the Batang Nanggang River overflowed.
In addition to flooding, landslides also occurred in Palembayan District. The landslide closed the provincial road that connects Padang Koto Gadang-Bukittinggi in Tonggo Gumarang I, Nagari Tigo Koto Silungkang.
Not only that, another landslide buried the provincial road connecting Lubuk Basung-Bukittinggi, specifically in Lubuak Sao Village, Nagari Dalko, Tanjung Raya District. The landslide material closed the road along about 20 meters with a height of approximately 1.5 meters so that the access could not be passed by vehicles.
Rahmat said heavy equipment was already at the location for handling. The cleaning of the landslide material will be carried out after the operator arrives at the field.
